We’re looking for student volunteers to join St John Ambulance.
As part of a First Aid Society, it’s not just about knowing how to put your mate into the recovery position on a night out. You’ll get to learn all kinds of valuable skills, such as how to perform CPR, how to help someone who is choking, or how to treat a burn.
Joining a society is a great way to get involved with your student community and meet other like-minded students. You might even make some friends for life!
There are also lots of opportunities to enhance your CV by improving your teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. For example, you could get involved with fundraising, youth work, and training other students.
You can join a First Aid Society through your students’ union.
If your university doesn’t have a First Aid Society, you can always set up your own. Use our free quick guide on how to start a First Aid Society.
If you’re part of a First Aid Society and interested in putting your skills into practise, you can join one of our university units. It’s a great way to gain hands-on experience and serve your local communities.
When you join one of our university units, you’ll need to complete some first aid training. This will provide you with a nationally recognised first aid qualification. You’ll then be able to volunteer alongside other students to provide first aid cover at events. This could be at university sporting events, concerts, and nightclubs.
If you have a question or need more information, please email student-volunteering@sja.org.uk.
